This is a question and not a statement (in other words, I'm not trying to be a 'smartass')

You say that Router should not be turned off unnecessarily for the reasons you state. Sky, however, suggest that the Router should be turned off when not in use, "...to conserve energy, etc."

I leave mine switched on all the time for similar reasons to those you state.

Why then, do Sky suggest the opposite?

Sky's welcome letter also says leave it on for the first 10 days (or two weeks).

Anyway, all good so far. A notable improvement over BT.

I think you misunderstood what I meant (or I didn't explain it very well) - turning a router off for hours at a time would not cause any problems at all, but switching it on and off several times in the same hour *might* be detected as line instability, which would result in a higher noise margin being set.
