a poll for you sky users - sort off :)

[link to this post]

I am curious.

This is for those on mid or max package.

Those of you who are paying either for mid or max are you doing so because of one of the following.

(a) to download more as is higher quota
(b) to download faster as is higher burst speed
(c) both reasons

sky base 2 gig 2mbit
sky mid 40gig 8mbit
sky max unlimited 16mbit

I am curious since I do wonder how many people are willing to pay for burst speed alone as I expect they do.

I'm on the Mid package for both reasons, higher burst speed & a larger quota.

Price and the bonus is the speed.

My line is capped to keep it stable, so my speed is low but i still pay for max.
10 to have no fear of breaking a limit, and it is still lower than most other providers
so for me price and quota

Connection Speed 3072 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 59.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 14.3 db 14.0 db

Lower price and not having to worry about quotas. I'm not a big downloader, but I don't like to have to keep worrying about how much I've downloaded.

Both - I like the higher speed for less than I was paying to Pipex and I sometimes download a lot [September it was 500Gb my worst of the year].

Base would have been too slow and far too limited an allowance.

I went for Max despite my line not being good enough to get 8mbps+ because taking into account Sky's "activation" cost, it was only 30 more than mid over the first year, had a higher upload speed, higher allowance when we need it, and also because sky don't provide usage stats, had I gone for Mid I would have had to montior usage on several computers each with 2+ OSes - worth the 2.50 a month extra just to avoid that hassle.

On Mid and couldn't care less about the quota - I'll keep downloading until they stop me. Although I'm not saying i'm a heavy downloader either. The only thing that might be gunning the router is Xbox Live.
