slow speeds :(

Hi all,

When I initally moved house i was estimated 3meg service and it connected fine.... I had to use a long telephone wire to get the adsl router into a bedroom and it dropped. I upgraded to unlimited and still my speed is stuck at 2meg...

Should I ring sky, what do i need to say?

Thanks

I think we need to know what your stats are if connected to the master socket without anything else connected.

If they are better than those posted it will be an in-house issue and nothing that Sky can fix, as it is internal wiring that is causing an issue. If they remain the same it may well be as good as it gets.

Just to add the fact that a long run in a house would not normally of itself cause a drop in speed...compared to the run from the exchange it is normally not that significant.

Thanks...

I have nothing else connected to the phone lines. There is an extension in the lounge but nothing is connected to it. Should I remove that when testing?

The main socket is a BT dual socket with a phone hole and internet hole. I think that means i dont need to use filters throughout the home?

How do I test from master socket? Is it possible with my dual socket?

If the extension is correctly wired to the filtered faceplate, then no.

You should assume that the adsl socket is in effect the master. You should not need a filter but you can still use one if you do not have an RJ11 to RJ11 connector, the type old dial up modems used.

With a router/modem a BT to RJ11 connector is most often supplied assuming a filter is to be used.
