usage

Since Sky had the usage tool in December, my usage has jumped from 2gig per month to 12gig per month. I was then upgraded automatically. Today, I looked at the Broadband usage calculator and found that I should only be using 4gig. Is sky using this tool to get us all to upgrade? How accurate is this tool? This looks like a money making tool.
Can anybody shed some light in this?
