In July this year 84 exchanges were added to the Sky network and a further 281 exchanges are scheduled to be added between now and December 2010.

I just spoke to a Sky advisor online and he said the information is correct. I still find it very hard to believe as every single exchange that I check around here, even those with just a few hundred residential lines, are saying the same thing.

Chat InformationYou are now connected with Darren
Darren: Welcome to Sky, Home of HD. You're chatting to Darren. May I take your name please?

You: Hello. I'm interested in getting Sky Broadband but I'd like the unlimited "up to 20Mb" product. It doesn't look like it's available at my exchange yet, but when I put my phone number into your availability checker it says "Great news - Sky is expanding our broadband and calls network in your area! We'll be completing this rollout over the next 3 months." Could you confirm that is correct and possibly give me a rough date as to when that will happen?

Darren: Sorry we dont have dates when this would be updated

You: Ok, but is it correct that it will be upgraded over the next 3 months or is it an error with the Sky availability checker? Because a lot of people on the internet forums are getting the same message, even on very small exchanges.

Darren: Yes that is the correct information

You: Excellent. Do you know roughly how many exchanges Sky are planning on upgrading over the next 3 months?

Darren: NO sorry

Surely it'll be almost impossible for Sky to unbundle almost every exchange over the next 3 months?

Cable and wireless came out with he same thing and still have not unbundled what they said they would. Sky would have to move quick, but saying that, we don't know how far advance it all is. Sky unbundling our exchange was a shock and it was kept secret

They are monitoring it and are interested in learning how wide ranging these claims of forthcoming un-bundling are. OFCOM has new powers with regard to mis-selling (GC24) so these may come into play if this does prove to be a con - after all - one of the exchanges they claim to be about to unbundle is SWAGL put that in the Sam Knows checker and have a good laugh. It is a tiny 2 street village at the end of Wales!

OFCOM are watching this, it may be that Sky are using some trickery here to get you sign up all excited at the prospect of super-fast broadband coming to you exchan... "Oh sorry Due to unforseen circumstances....... but you will continue to benefit from out heavily contended connect package."

You could give OFCOM a call - ask to speak to Russ - and add your exchange to the list, so far just on my research they are doing every single exchange in 3 counties around me - including 1 exchange of 40-odd lines in a tiny village out on the coast at the end of this county.

Hi warweezil,

When you say 'Add my exchange to the list' what do you mean exactly?
