ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7611 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 37.5 dB 20.8 dB
Noise Margin 14.9 dB 12.0 dB
That's me at the moment was running at 4095/512 and the atten was 35.0/20.0 last night so its speed is working its way up although so it the atten lol. The noise has gone down loads since last night though is was at 22 lol so well see what happenes over the next few days. The Neighbours all have speeds of between 11.5-14 so if i get 11.5 ill be more than happy.

Hi ... thanks for the info.
Before getting activated, I couldn't make up my mind which would be the best option to follow... i.e use the supplied D-Link router supplied by Sky for the training period or not but the clincher for me was (besides the D-Link being only 'g' wireless and standard 10/100 LAN ports) that I was informed that if the D-Link had it's firmware updated (once I was activated), that the utilty to extract the username/password would most likley not work.
In the end, I connected up the D-Link and used the username/password extractor program right away and tried it in my Netgear DGN3500.
As soon as I'd established it was working, I thought I'd give it a try and see how it went, but, I was getting a bit jumpy as after two days, it did not appear like the 'training' period had not started (Sky portal page still not updated to show my line is in training mode!) but then yesterday morning I spotted that the download/upload speed had gone up so I realised that training had indeed started.
Again, this morning speeds have gone up (to just over 6 megs) so I'm going to leave the Netgear hooked up for the training period and see how it goes.
My SNR is set at about 8db at the moment... a bit high I guess but then again, it is the training period so hopefully it should settle back to about 6db?
My line attenuation is normally at about 37db (down) but that too is up a couple of pips at the moment and hovering around 39db
I was given a target download speed of about 4 megs from Sky when I signed up, but my best guess is that they 'artificially' make that a much lower figure than what might be expected (for a number of reasons) but I'm hoping to get at least as much speed from Sky LLU as I did from my previous ISP and that was averaging about 8 megs download.
Early days yet I know, but keeping my fingers crossed the training will keep pushing up my speeds : - )
