In reply to a post by acpsd775:
I was activated on Tuesday but on Tuesday/Wednesday i used my Belkin N1 with my friends username and password. Naughty i no but it didn't seam to kick him off or affect him in any way so did it anyway lol. But i was told on here its always best to use skys router during the training period and then switch to your own router after the 10 days. I was sent one of the sagecom 2304 things that had a partial N thing (75meg max). I managed to get my username and password using the old way on www.cm9.net. so ill put my details into the belkin N1 after the 10 days period.

Ash

Edit Actualy the UN /PW i got off that site dont work in belkin after all lol.

Does any one know how to do it with the sagecoms?

Thanks again for the reply.

Yes, I read the same advice and agree it is the best, for the most part to use the provided modem/router from Sky but given all the reasons I mentioned in my other message(s), I decided to take a chance and use my own modem/router.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't end up making a mess of things, but so far (fingers crossed), it does appear as though the training is going as I'd expected.

Best result for me would be to get at least the same download speeds that I was getting with my previous ISP (8 megs) and if it's any more, then I'll be a happy bunny : - )

Yea if its going fine then leave it on i cant seam to get my user/password off the sagecom haha so looks like for now im stuck with it.

Providing i get 10meg minimum i will be very happy (i no people in street 2 of wich on same pole as me get between 11.5-14).
The only thing is my attens a bit high one of the people on the same pole as me has an atten of 30 (they get 14meg) so i think this may slow me down a bit.
ive done everything i can do at my end to make sure to get the best out of my connection.

New line fitted pre-filtered faceplate no so well have to wait till line training is done and see what happens then if its under 10 meg ill get on the blower to sky lol.

Just left virgin for sky from 50meg that will be very missed lol so if i get 10 (the lowest vm offer) it will be worth it.

My friend switched to sky about a month ago he used to get 6 meg on o2 and now he gets 9 with sky so he was very happy too saved him some money and boosted him lol.

Hi...

All noted on the line attenuation. Thing is, as I'm sure you are aware, that many things can cause attenuation, even 'after dark' effects like street lighting etc.

For me, once I'd figured out that my extension cable going from my BT master socket to the one where I have my modem router was acting as an antenna and then snipping the bell wire pin at the master socket, things got much sweeter.... right away I got an extra 2 megs download speed and that was without even re-starting the modem/router at the time!

My normal attenuation (certainly while I was with my previous ISP) is about 37db and from the calculations I've seen, that might mean I get as much as 9 or even 10 megs download on Sky LLU ... all things being equal of course but again, there are so many factors to take into consideration so guess I'll have to wait until the end of the 10 day training period and see just what speeds I get ; - )

yea well i dont have any extension exept a sky one but there's no bell wire in that and its fitted behind the filtered faceplate so it wont interfere with the broadband. And also i think when they fitted my phone line 2 week ago they didn't put the bell wire in there either.

I had to have full new line as we had one from pole to house at as soon as cable hit the house it stoped it was pulled out about 16 year ago lol.

As you say a lot of things can affect and it may go down after training.

Had to switch mine over this morning, half my kit doesn't seem to like the Sagem and won't interact with it.

I just used the cm9 website, ok it's a different Sagem model, but it still works.

when i put my detail's in using the Sagecom bit on the site it generated a password that was about 40 characters long with a / in the middle and when i put this into my other router i just got a ultra flashing orange light and wouldn't authorise lol were as my m8s password is only about 8 characters long any ideas ?

Ash

EDIT

Never mind i feel such a wally i was putting the last digit of my mac code in wrong lol.
The end was EC and i was putting EE.

line tested started in my account last night and my atthens gone up again to 39 crazy im not happy about that. Im sure there putting it up on purpose just to match there speed estimate on website they dont like it when u tell them you know you can get faster.

These are Todays Stats using belkin N1 the sky one keeps cronkin lol

Well that Sagem is a bit of a disaster losing internet connection, losing wireless its in the bin ive connected up the netgear.Tried the user/pass i extracted but wouldnt connect like you i ended up with a password *****/*****.
Dunno if it was because i was doing it wireless or not.
I just used the the working user/pass that i had from the netgear router.
Bit of a shambles really lol had to switch the sagem router on/off around 4-5 times just to get internet access so god knows what thats done for my profile im back to 4.25mb.Pointless getting another sky router as they will just send out the same duff model.
