That would of been me lol i didn't get one of the tools to do it right and it was hard to get the wires in so once they were in and it actually worked i just left it as it was not to push my luck lol.

Just snip off the overhanging ends with a pair of sharp nail-scissors -- or something similar -- and the perfectionists will then not be muttering amongst themselves. smile

Regarding the new line that OR installed for you. Was it just wiring inside the house? Or was it a new drop-cable from the top of the pole to the house and then onwards, inside the house, to the NTE5A that you have shown us in the first picture?

the line from the pole was already there and then it joins to the new wires outside the house that goes to the NTE5 with a littleblack tube looking thing ive seen on quite a re line replacements it seams to be the standard new BT cable joining thing.

Right, I see. I don't know the official designation (or part number) for it but it is obviously a weatherproof external in-line junction. Assuming the connections were made inside it correctly (and I have no reason to suspect there is anything wrong), then you have ruled out the possibility of any other peculiarities with the incoming line -- just as BatBoy wanted to know, above.

The only suggestion I can now make is for you to decide upon which modem/router you intend to use, connect it up and leave it alone for about a week to ten days. No fiddling! Just let the line and modem stabilise, thus becoming familiar with each other. wink

yea sky found 406 critical errors but don't no what they are im waiting on a call back from tier 2 support apparently they'll be able to look into it more. A friend of mine said he experienced a similar problem to me and it turned out to be a faulty card in the exchange. So im hoping tier 2 will be able to detect if its that they've told me its these errors what's stopping me achieving my optimal speed. Its also stopping them lowering the SNR for me manually i suppose now its jut a waiting game on when they'll ring.

Yes, just sit tight and wait for them to report back to you. Hopefully someone from a higher level will be able to trace the source of this problem and then have it corrected for you.

Hi,
Have you still got the DMT tool running?????
When it was running did you adjust your SNR??????? because looking at your print you have a lot more speed there.
If you didn't adjust your SNR then try doing it and see what you get, Check the link below on how to set it up :-

yes i adjusted the SNR but it did not seam to change anything what it did do was prove that my line is capable of having the speed if it wasn't for these errors what ever the errors are. (sky say its the errors that are capping me at 7.5 no matter what they try. They tried putting me on 6DB SNR and forcing me on a 11meg profile and it just failed for them and kep me at 7.5. Im waiting on a call back from tier 2 support apparently they have some tools what will be able to more determine the errors what tier 1 dont have access to)

I dont have it running now no i had to switch back to the sky router coz over the next threw days sky are going to be contacting me and trying to find out what's wrong so i need to leave for sky router in incase they randomly ring me up lol

So are you saying that when you had DMT running you moved the slider down from 100%
then ticked ADSL2+ abd then DSL Resync and nothing at all changed on your ADSL Performance and Line Quality????????

Nothing at all changed lol the only thing that changed was that that RCO number it originally said 7645, then when i moved the SNR Thing and selected adsl2+ it changed the 12260, But as you can see from the graph my actual stats didn't change. But this could be to do with the errors on my line as sky have said these unknown errors are blocked even them from forcing me onto better speed/lower SNR . Still waiting from a call back from sky tier 2 support with the results of the tests they've been doing to try find out what they actually are .
