Re: New Sky connection, what speed can I expect?

The bigger the SNR noise margin the better in this instance. Eventually the noise margin will be dropped resulting in an increase in sync rate.

The point about getting the stats in the test socket is that it isolates your home phone wiring from the router. So it's easy to tell if your home phone wiring is causing the problem. Could you remove as much as possible of your phone kit from the line and then get the stats (unless that's what you have already done).

Did you restart your router afterwards?

Yeah I rebooted! I have my telephone and sky+ HD box connected to the phone socket! I have just double filtered the sky box to see if that makes a difference!

Not sure what else I can try! Removing the orange wires from behind both of my phone sockets increased the noise margin instantly to 12/13 db. I'll just leave things as they are as the line still has a few more days of testing to go!

Cheers for the input!

I think you are right. Wait until the end of the 10 day period and perhaps a day or so afterwards. If you still have a low sync rate and a SNR margin greater than, say, 9 db, complain to Sky support. Good luck. smile

My latest stats! I'm more than happy with these and the connection! Thanks everyone for your help.

Cheers!

but still so weak for your attenuation.

More and more on these and skyuser have i see sky's speeds so much slower then any other isps with regards to sync/attenuation.

Really does everyone who goes with sky have bad wiring or something?>
