That is mis information, sky don't own the lines,they merely rent them,just as anybody else does bt openreach own and maintain them so from the exchange to your home is bt openreach's nothing to do with sky, as they would be quick enough to point out if you had a line fault
As you where on full llu as it now transpires , you have to cancel and first get the line back to bt RTD then place an order for bb, canceling the sky service as you did,
I and others here are only able to give advice or make suggestions based upon the info you have provided,
