Re: How 2 transfer movies/programs/settings 2 new 1tb skybox

Not sure how it works, (Sky anytime +) with respect to knowing who your broadband is with but having just taken delivery of a new 1Tb Sky HD Box it's working fine with my current Idnet broadband. That said, I have a transfer to a Sky LLU service pending activation so perhaps it's just a switch at base rather than the box recognizing a sky connection.

The switch is on your account with sky - you need the Anytime+ activated on your account, and then it works. I know because a friend of mine had two ISPs and connected his Sky+HD box to the wrong line, and it worked for months smile

Interesting as all I have read suggests it should only work on Sky Broadband - I had assumed they were running it off the private network space and not making it publicly available - maybe they are closer to releasing it to other ISP users than it seemed. You do need Sky Broadband though to enable the option in My Sky to use Anytime+ but as I haven't moved away from Sky BB yet I haven't had the opportunity to test to see if it continues working after.

Everything I've read assumed it worked on private network space - but I guess it doesn't!

Its not a compelling service if you don't have the movie package I'm told, plus with less than 15meg downloads its quite slow in use, you can watch other TV whilst it downloads however.

i know someone has already replied - sorry for the late response, first chance back in the forum

but yes as pointed out anytime+ needs to be on sky LLU service
HD box does not need to be hooked up to network for use - its only for anytime+
apologies if i seemed to imply otherwise - i was only pointing out i still have sky tv but virgin for the BB, and i cannot get my anytime+ anymore now i am on virgin

but their broadband LLU product was (almost) faultless in the 4,5 years+ or whatever i had (early adopter!!) my only fault was a few years ago when they changed the email service over to google it lost emails and locked me out of my email accounts for a few weeks

No problems with that Jim, I'm grateful to everyone for their replies and information, it is all very much appreciated. smile

I almost considered getting a refund from BT and taking sky up on the offer, but didn't see much reason to do so really. I didn't see any reason whatsoever in getting another broadband line in here. If it ain't broke Etc.
thanks again folks! wink

Steven. smile
