You can get higher than 20 but as I said it totally depends on the conditions set out above.

I'm using the Billion 7800n (snr tweaked) on Easynet...

I suppose the lady who put me on 22MB liked the sound of my voice wink

Ah if you're on a globespan easynet dslam that would be no issue, it could just sync to the 7db target SNR or lower if tweaking with the broadcom chipset.

Problems arise when you are on the SVBN profiling system, you can only get above 20 by DLM, have you been moved over perhaps?

Just checked, still on Easynet. I assume it depends on who you speak to and what they are prepared to do and know... My line is a very stable line, so it's the 2 guys from Sky today who either wasn't prepared to set it higher or didn't know how...

Yep e-mail is a pointless task in my experience.

Phoning up and requesting to be put straight through at a quiet time to CST usually does the trick (if the tier1 agent cannot deal with it) - they can then just resync the line to the 7db target or you could ask them to uncap to 24000 to allow room for snr tweak.

In reply to a post by shaneosborne:
They must support faster and it depends on who you speak to because I previously got 22...
Well, there you are then:
Up to 20Mb broadband availability depends on your location. Speeds vary with location and line quality.
They only advertise and therefore commit to up to 20 Meg.

It doesn't matter if it's technically possible to go faster, Sky will only guarantee up to 20 Meg and you can't complain if you are taken down to 20 Meg.

I think if you get DLM to run again this can set speeds over 20 mbps

Other than DLM I don't think there's a way

& I'm not sure 100% if DLM STILL allows this

I've previously seen a post by a member of sky support staff, who said that on SVBN the automatic DLM could set sync speeds over 20mbps, but if configured manually, they could only select from a very limited pre-configured sets of line profiles, none-of which exceeded the advertised 20mbps. If you do connect over 20mbps then you'd almost certainly also have the minimum delay, so don't call up asking to be put on the gaming profile, as you'd just lose speed.

Yep Sky can't set profiles above 20mbps. DLM can

Sky have a few profiles that they can manually set. 4 meg, 10 meg, 16 meg, 18/19 meg. I think that's it.

A while ago they could set whatever speed they liked e.g. they could enter in a random number. Now they can't

So the best solution is to ask for DLM to run and hope it trains in higher.

Also any profile below the highest one has a restircted upload to 765 kbps

How smug do you feel? Most peeps get at the most 6mb and you are whining about not getting 22 mb.

I suppose your'e not interested in getting FTTC if you are getting those speeds through ADSL.

Your very lucky mate, make the most of it...
