I have also posted in the www.sky.co.uk forum going to post into the skyuser one as well asap.
thanks people.
The possiblities in the future are for BT to install a PCP "just outside" the exchange, provide FTTP or in cases like yours to allow VDSL2 inside the exchange (which is currently not allowed by the band plan).
Neither installation of a new PCP or FTTP seems like a "quick fix" but it is an issue that impacts a sizeable number (but low percentage) of customers. One problem is that EO lines come in several flavours - close to the exchange like yours or a cluster of premises several miles away which may have originally been a small development. The solution to this is unlikely to be straightforward and with FTTC being a commercial venture by OpenReach there is problem no money to be made to "fix" small groups of premises like yours.
I assume you have registered interest with BT for FTTC and starting a letter writing campaign ("encourage your neighbours") to your councillor, MP and the CEO of BT is your only option.
