Re: Coming over to the Dark Side

Just got back from holidays and read other replies, I used to have a 61DB downstream attenuation I notice that has now increased to 70DB!!!!

This is now having a direct impact on speed instead of the 3500/700kbps I was getting I now get a measly 775/480mbps.

I tried changing filter, modem but to no avail, would the order make any difference on my line, does anyone know what could of changed the attenuation? Like I said I have been in holiday and made no changes whatsoever to the physical items at my end.

Even surfing is more laggy now, let alone downloads! The order has been put back to the 25th of this month, so another week Thurs to wait, but these speeds are really crippling my connection until then.

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:
There is a theory that the speed reported by the 2504n is a fake speed, and not the real speed. Particularly as this is hidden away in the Openreach modem, i.e. providers router does no speed negotiation.

The speed reported on my 2504N, when I was still using it, always matched what was reported by the OR modem, give or take a couple of Kbps. What it doesn't do is update the speeds dynamically so it has to be rebooted to get the current sync speed.
