massive packet loss (almost 100%)

Around midnight/1.00am this morning my sky unlimited ADSL gave up. Rebooted router, no change (have a wan ip and default gateway). Phoned sky,who called me back on my mobile and performed a line test, I watched the router drop its connection and re-establish it. Still no 'internet'. The nice script reading lady got be to reboot my router and tell get my wan ip address once it was connected.

She has raised a second line call with the networks team, but that us a 72hour turn around.

A traceroute to say google is fine till hop2 (dr1.hobir.isp.sky.com), but times out pretty much after that (it does get responses from 209.85.240.63 and 216.239.49.30).

Sure it is a sky issue, as I can't imagine all my machines and phone would fail overnight.

Anyone else seeing problems? Typically today is the day I am waiting at home for the plumber to show up....

Facebook works (but slowly), thinkbb forums work. www.briskoda.net & news.bbc.co.uk aren't working.

This looks like some issue within the sky network? Sorry if my first post lack details, etc, but I was writing it on my phone

mmm, well I have noticed the dial tone drop out a few times on my phone line too.

Just swapped out my Draytek for a Sky Sagem F@st unit and the internet seemed to be working fine, so I swapped back to my Draytek and that is now playing nicely too.

I noticed my second hop has now changed, so I am wonder if Sky had some internal routing issues and by reconnecting I got lucky and hit a more friendly gateway.

Just spoken to a Sky helpdesk guy (3rd one today) - all very helpful I might add.

Appears there was a card failure in my exchange last night, and they have now replaced and are reconfiguring the card..... Shame that a fault in one exchange doesn't warrant the service status from suggesting there might be a localised problem (stweymth) - rather than me chasing my tail.
