Re: What fibre equipment provided?

I may need talking through this please.

So, if I connect 1 laptop to the other with a LAN cable, I should be able to transfer files across. How would I measure the speed they were transferring at?

Also, if the wired speed test is showing 36+mb, doesn't that already show it is the wireless that is causing the issues?

That said, since your last reply, I have been doing some Googling and it seems this wireless adapter may well be the problem.

No, you'd be wanting to test the wireless independant of the BB. So you'd send files between PCs via the router over wireless.

You'd 1st need to set up the PCs on a LAN by setting 'File & Printer Sharing', probably on the same Workgroup. You'd measure the speed by a net meter like tbbMeter.

I believe a "crossover" cable would be required to connect PC to PC.

Or

PC1 with patch cable to router and PC2 with patch cable to router and transfer files to negate wireless.

Or as Xray has suggested

PC1 to PC2 both via wireless.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard

Problem solved (on my laptop anyway smile)

Thanks to all the contributors previously about the file transferring, but I took the easy option and deleted my wireless card drivers, then re- downloaded them again. Result? 35meg. I'm happy with that smile

Just so you know a 1x1 N wireless card is the lowest spec (1 stream), and the majority are 2 stream and some are 3 stream.

Also use inSSIDer (on Windows or Linux) to check your channels.
