Re: Sky D-Link ADSL2+ router

Not sure if Sky still do the 'gaming' profile. but when i had their service i got CST to remove DLM on my line and it basically was set to 6dB margin.

I had the old DG834GT white router with the DGTeam firmware and controlled the SNR myself via that.

I had a 23dB line and their DLM capped me at 17meg, when I got the gaming profile and tweaked the line i was syncing at over 20meg

Thanks smile.

It's hard to say what use will be made of it once it is sorted. The boy at the moment does do gaming, but I get the impression it isn't much cop. I expect the latency is all over the place, between poor and lousy. The girl was also told we were going to make it faster, so it seems she probably does something.

I don't know about her, but the other three are football lovers, plus some other sports, and catchup TV would definitely be on the menu as it was tried, then ditched because of hideous buffering.

I'll leave the question of SNR tweaking until we have the major problem fixed, but don't think it would be their thing, even if the line turns out to be more stable than mine was.

Their gaming profile was just the lowest form of interleaving and a default margain of 6dB as far as I remember.

Of course Sky don't like using it in most cases and it can cause intermittent sync issues.
