I believe that the EU are now considering them to be "premium" rate..

I consider anything which costs more than 01/02/03 to be "premium", since I have to pay a premium over "normal" numbers to ring them.

Ah, where would we be without the EU telling us what to think wink

I see where you are coming from, but to me a premium rate is 50p or more per minute on an 09 number.

Think of it this way, Free calls, Standard charges and Premium charges. If 5-6p per minute is premium, what is standard?

Let's not forget, it's not that long ago that we didn't have these "all inclusive" calls packages at all and paid for ALL our calls. The telephone companies still have to make money somehow, and if we only pay a relatively small monthly fee and nothing else, then where are the profits going to come from?

Free - 0800
Standard - 01/02/03
Premium - anything more than standard

01/02/03 might be inclusive, but they aren't "free", since a subscription needs to be paid.

I have to say that Oliver321 beat me to it..

If I have to pay over my subscription charge for the "inclusive calls" bundle, and it's not a competition or premium rated text then it's a "premium" cost.... it's over and above what I already pay..

For instance.. I pay a subscription charge to Sky for my TV services.. why should I then pay more for the privilege of speaking to someone about Sky's confusing bills.. I didn't make them confusing Sky did....

I hope that clarifies it...

Ha! You pay, I presume, your taxes - have you ever called your Tax Office about their "confusing billing"? Having waiting on the line for 20mins on an 0845 number, talking to Sky is cheap!!

A lot of Doctor's surgeries are now on 0845 numbers also.........

As an aside, a lot of companies give a "If calling from abroad" number - this can be used to overcome he regular 0845 number premium.

If your number is standard geographic and not on inclusive calls the cost can still be high as there is a 15p connection cost then the p/min.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard

If one was moved to Sky SMPF and had Zen line rental then there would be no connection charge, only the price per second on a call smile
