Own Modem / Router

Hi all
I am thinking of getting the Linksys EA6900 router to have better wireless and also to have gigabit LAN available.

Would it be best to just have the Sky Hub connected to the Linksys Router or to look into buying and ADSL modem only and finding my login details to connect to sky with a modem only.
Appreciate any answers/advice given

You should probably get a combined modem/router if you intend to use Sky ADSL. PPPoE/bridge still seems to be problematical.

Most ADSL modem only devices are woefully under spec'd so I would second finding a decent combined device.

Go for a Draytek 120 v2 ADSL2+ modem which is a true PPoE modem. Got one on my ADSL2+ line also connected to a Linksys EA6900 and its a rock solid combination

I don't really understand the benefit of a half-bridge setup when a combined modem/router will do it all. It's not like combined modem/routers are poor performers in relation to standalone routers, there are some very powerful ones like the Netgear D6300 for instance.

The benefit of having a separate modem/router is that you can use a much more powerful router which has more config options than a combo modem/router. The Netgear D6300 is nothing in comparison to the likes of Netgear R7000, Asus RT-AC66U, Linksys EA6900, the latter three all blow away the D6300 for wifi coverage for starters. How many combined modem/routers can you think of which have dual core processors? Let the modem handle the internet side of things and let the router handle the routing of the traffic.

"the router charts" appear to have forgotten to list the D6300.
