The O2 one wouldn't have connected, as if you havn't been using it, then when you were switched over to them, they couldn't have configured it for their network, it'll still be configured for O2 won't it ?

Unlike BE, O2 WB's had PPPoA credentials active from (or near) the start, to support WBC connections.
