whether on SKY ADSL or ADSl2+

I am looking to use my own router on SKY.

I contacted sky to see if I was on normal SKY ADSL or ADSL2+

Needless to say not very helpful.

My download speed is 10877 upload 1116. Q Router

From this can anyone tell me whether I am on ADSL2+?

Can anyone recommend the best router which has usb ports and works with SKY's MER?

Is Adsl2+ modems backward compatible with ADSL normal bb?

Sky LLU is always ADSL2+

ADSL2+ is backwards compatible with ADSL2 and ADSL, and modems will use whichever they think is best

ADSL2+ max sync 24 Mbps
ADSL2 max sync 12 Mbps
ADSL max sync 8 Mbps

I currently use the TP-LINK N600. It's an older router (probably better ones on the market now) but it still goes strong. Dual band wifi and 2 USB ports. Also used with sky broadband ADSL service. It has good customization, QoS etc... And googling shows it going for as cheap as £15. I don't believe it's capable of VDSL though. Just in case you want a bit of future proofing.

You would also need to get your SKY username and password. I found it extremely difficult getting that information from them so resorted to other means. Which i'm unsure i can speak of here.

There's no need to extract your password anymore using wireshark, you can use the details below:

Username: [email protected]
Password: leave blank
Connection Type: PPPoA
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

Thats for an ADSL connection, VDSL uses different format.

I had no idea. Thank you for correcting me. It's been a long while since i've had to extract those details. Good to know for future use.

Wireshark way will still work though.
