Line rental changes over to talk talk today

[link to this post]

I dont do any downloading anymore, maybe for a year or two and i am just trying to save the pennies.

I have signed up tp talk talk which should be good enough for browsing & checking emails. The question i have is, talk talk are due to take ove my line rental today & i have only just realised. I thought i had another week or so. Will my plusnet line cease today also?

Will it cut off when the line goes over to talk talk. I am not expecting my broadband to start until the end of august.

If it does stop, god knows what im going to do with myself for a month. The thought of it, my god. You seem to become so reliable on email etc, price checking & so on. ;o)

Guess i will find out at the close of business tonight if my line does go dead.

All answers welcome.

If anyone has talk talk and was connected to another ISP, please let me know what happened to yourself. Thanks

Hi,

If Talktalk are transferring your line rental to them today, you should be fine. It's possible you may have a slight interruption in service whilst they transfer you, however I never had this.

Basically, Talktalk are renting your line from BT at present (until they unbundle the local exchange and put their own equipment in), which means that your ADSL service from PlusNet should not be affected.

In any case, your line should not go dead for longer than about an hour and in many cases is unlikely to be interrupted at all.

When they unbundle your local exchange and transfer your line on to their own equipment, they will usually send you a letter to let you know nearer the time they do this, there is likely to be an interruption in service on your line and you will no longer be able to order or have an ADSL from another provider. By this time, your broadband should have been activated and, if not, is likely to be activated around that date.

I hope this helps to clear things up a bit.

Daz

Your line rental going from BT to Talk-Talk has nothing to do with your broadband connection or change of ISP.

I am with Talk-Talk (Onetel) for line rental and my broadband was with e7even.com till they went down the pan.

The only change you will see is when you move to your new ISP.

Hope everything goes well for you.
