Should be LLU'd months ago but still on 2Mb fixed?

[link to this post]

Hey when I got TalkTalk only a few weeks after it came out (although I actually got it a few months after ) I was told my exchange (Ramsgate, Kent) was one of a select few in the area that had been LLU'd! I was very pleased to here this news...

...However, the guy at my Carphone Warehouse completely missinformed me. In fact, when I emailed TalkTalk to ask why I wasn't on 8Mb (or even >2Mb for that matter), they said my exchange was due to be unbundled in SEPTEMBER!

It's now December and my broadband router still says I'm on 2mb. I was wondering if one of you TalkTalk guys could tell me why, and, if my exchange HAS been LLU'd, how to switch to ADSL MAX.

By the way, I don't know if Carphone Warehouse staff get comission for selling products, but the guy that sold me this should be sacked for COMPLETE missinformation -.-

PS: Despite it not being ADSL MAX, I'm still on 2Mb with low latency gaming for free. So I can't really complain You guys rock!

Easiest way to find out if you have been LLU'd or not is to try dialling out using a pre-fix of 1280

This will attempt to route the call over BT's equipment in the exchange, if you get a message "sorry the number you have dialled has not been recognised" then you will have been LLU'd. If the call connects ok then you are still connected to BT's equipment and therefore still on IPstream.

Your noise margin is poor which will reduce your potential sync when you get LLU'd. Your attenuation indicates you could get 7

I live in Ramsgate, myself and TalkTalk has not been installed in to the Ramsgate Exchange or any other Thanet Exchange.

From what I heard TalkTalk have removed Ramsgate RFS date for this Exchange - due to TalkTalk rollout delays. Could be wrong, but that's what I heard.

My understanding is that the next LLU service to arrive at Ramsgate will be Sky Broadband/EasyNet estimated for service in Spring 2007.

The only way your be on LLU at Ramsgate at the moment, is if TalkTalk are using Tiscali LLU and I doubt that.

Sky Broadband - Connect.

The irony of this being I left Tiscali to join TalkTalk Silly me.

To the guy that was talking about my noise etc, 5Mb is still faster than 2Mb to me The router is plugged into the extension so it could well be that.

Thanks for the assistance chaps
