Connection just keeps resetting

This is just seriously bad, my connection in the last 20mins has reset over 6 times, when it connects sometimes I had to reset it, because it is syched but nothing is getting through. TalkTalk have been THE WORST ISP I ever had, I am actually thinking of moving to Virgin Media, I got to pay for them, they also include caps but from when I had NTL they were stable. I normally do not like to complain about an ISP uptime because once in a while they do have problems I understand that but this has been going on over a week now.

I have also had unexpected problems this week with no authentication and sync dropping. I suspect it is the new network being connected up. My exchange did feature in the network upgrade table.

After two days it seems to have settled down and the peak time download rate appears to be 2Mbps. That is an improvement over the previous situation where speeds went down to 400kbps on occasions. However it could be no one else in my area is getting a service. Thanks to TalkTalkBoy my connection is back up and running.

OK here's my problem for Stephen.

I have never before had any trouble connecting with a Speedtouch 330. It is my back up system if things aren't looking right. Obviously it isn't ADSL2+ capable.

Over the last two days it wouldn't sync when switched on. After rebooting several times and disconnecting the USB bus it achieved sync but it wouldn't authenticate. Neither would the MT882.

Eventually after another 30 mins it authenticated but there are network disconnections requiring logging in again and reauthentication.

The line is sound but there seems to be some network and connection issues. Can I expect normal operation shortly as my exchange upgrade is said to be complete tomorrow 14/12/07?

My area is not in their, the connection seems stable right now, I'll see later if it keeps resetting,

here is my problem i have phoned second line 9 times in a week about being automaticly reprofiled to a fixed profile

i phone up ,you re synk me on snr of 9 i get synk of 7 meg-7.5 meg and download speeds of 6-6.5 meg
i have been re synked at every snr , put on every fixed profile and can stay connected for 13 hours but eventuly i disconect and go on th the above fixed profile ,
network engineers said it was fixed ,came home from work and it was as the above profile , no one nose what is going on ,and after a week ,i would at least expect some kind of explination

I would suggest that you wait till you have been LLU`ed and you know that has been completed you should only be without service or have your service affected for a few hours at the most however things can and do go wrong. IF after this point you are still getting the same or any other issue let me know.

Thanks for the question, I am not going to say I have never seen this before because I have however its not the norm and in all my time with TalkTalk I have only seen it one other time and due to the fact that it was an isolated incident and only happened the once to the customer I didn't take it any further.

To the best of my knowledge the MSAN is not programmed to auto re-profile customers/lines should they suffer a loss of signal however it is always possible that a corrupted piece of code in the software could cause this anomaly or it could be something else ?

The MSAN is able to identify a long line and if it does it will ensure that that line isn't over provided, it could be and I am making an assumption that when your signal is dropping maybe as a result of noise on line the MSAN is registering you as a long line and so is trying not to over provide the line and so putting you on a fixed profile. As I said above this is not the norm as this normally happens when you first go live and the MSAN registers the line quality and then provides a service accordingly.

How often does this happen?

Thanks for your reply but my line has been unbundled since October 2006. The symptoms I described in my earlier post are still present. No sync to Speedtouch 330. MT 882 syncs but will not authorise. Suddenly after 30 mins it authorises. Then the line remains usable. Something has been changed. The line stats are the same. I would appreciate it if you could look into the matter although my exchange is supposed to be undergoing "network updates" finishing today.
