Where's the Equipment?

Hi

I ordered my Mothers TalkTalk Broadband early in December and we got a live date of Jan 16th. I paid for her the wireless router and it's now the 14th and still no gear.

Is this common, or will it actually be delivered to her home on the 16th? This is cutting it fine tbh

The modem is normally sent the week that you go live, you could always call customer service, they should be able to le you know if it has been sent.

I received my modem a couple of days before going live, and my welcome pack with login details etc one day before..... HTH.

My switchover to TalkTalk took place on the 14th December, but my wireless router didn't arrive before the 29th December, after making 4 telephone calls to them, to which they replied that they would get back to me, but never did. So couldn't connect to broadband until the 29th, 15 days after I had been switched over from a BT line to TalkTalk's! I never did get my welcome pack. Luckily, during an extended and frantic conversation during the 4th telephone call, around the 21st December, at least I was given my TalkTalk ID and password that allowed me to connect as soon as the router arrived. Now that I'm connected, I am only getting about 2.5Mbps downstream and 0.35 upstream. Hope eventually that I can get TalkTalk to sort this out for me, as was expecting better!

Thanks! Quite pessimistic myself, but I need to pursue the issue more vigorously than I have. So, that might help!? I have also a problem about our external wiring. Anyway, that's a different subject and I should post in another thread. Will try and keep people informed.

Finally, found respectable speeds when connected to the router via an ethernet cable, which according to the TalkTalk web site is the correct way to test one's speed, although generally their speed tester is significantly more optimistic than others. However, using the TalkTalk speed tester, have just recorded an amazing 0.037 Mbps download speed. I've posted this up on the TalkTalk members' forum. Thus, as to the external wiring, a member on that forum told me that the old wiring and joint boxes made little difference, and generally my speed tests seem to confirm that, with thinkbroadband speed tests giving me a max of around 6.5 Mbps, with the TalkTalk tester giving 6.9 most of the time. Im still waiting on my Speedtouch 330 modem from TT and lets see, oh yes, I have been with them nearly 18 months! Amazing I tell you!
