Talk Talk Assist & Go tool

When I click on 'check connection' I get a check phone line error re microfilters but I am already surfing away and connected. Does this mean it has found something maybe affecting my phone(I do have a crackly line) or is this just a software bug because I am already connected or something?

It may be your security software blocking the connect and go program properly communicating with your router.
