having to reset the DSL Line continuosly

[link to this post]

Last night was horrendous. Every 5 minutes, I was either rebooting my router or resetting the DSL Line. Here were recent stats:

ADSL State Show Time
Data Path Interleaved
Operation Mode ADSL2+
Bandwidth Down/Up(kbps) 8128 / 443
SNR Margin Down/Up(dB) 20.3 / 21.3
Attenuation Down/Up(dB) 16.0 / 7.4
Power Down/Up(dBm) 0.0 / 12.3
CRC Down/Up 1739 / 65501
FEC Down/Up 726 / 65388
HEC Down/Up 113 / 0
System Up Time 41:27:50
DSL Up Time 0:52:04

When that occurs, Internet access is unavailable. Though this happens less frequently on ADSL1, it is not as fast and I need a faster internet connection as offered by ADSL2+ due to large file transfers.

What could the problem be? My router is the HG520s

I`ve been having similar problems here in Wakefield.
This morning, I logged on, everything looked ok , routed synced, but not able to download anything.
Had to re-boot router a couple of times before internet was working.
I was wondering if it could be a LAN fault, but as I`m not the only one experiencing this, it must be something to do with Talktalk.

You shouldn't notice a difference between ADSL2+ and g.dmt. TT's ADSL2+ is currently capped at 8megs and you would get that speed on either ADSL2+ or g.dmt because you are so close to the exchange.

If there is any difference, it could be due to the number of errors that are showing in your stats; CRCs FECs and HECs. That would normally be noise on the line but your noise margin looiks good. I would suspect your wireless connection (checked by going to wired mode), or a router fault (checked by substitution) or exchange problems (call TT CS).

I'll disable the wireless connection and see if there are any differences - (I wish I had another ethernet cable)

Are you on the same router?

no, mines a ethernet adsl2/2+ router (similar to netgear I think),it`s wired not wireless, and dsl connection is G.dmt, I found using adsl2+ was not very stable at all (although a bit quicker)

hmmmm, I've just experienced another one with wireless turned off + I don't have another router I'm not sure, but this always happens at night.

same here, this morning I hadn`t used the pc for 24 hours, and the other night, i was watching the router try and connect for nearly an hour.
It seems to be ok when I`m using it, but if there`s no traffic for any length of time the connection drops, and I have all sorts of problems getting re-connected.
I might try my old bt voyager, though that only connects when it`s made to, not online all the time like a router.

The Sagem fast 800 is supported by TT I believe.

I had disconnection and slow speed issues here when my exchange ran out of backhaul capacity. Took 2 months to fix and was worse in the week they were installing it.
