This is a posting on behalf of my parents who are getting throughly confused, harrassed etc by BT/Talktak/Virgin over this..
Basically about "X" yrs ago, My Parents used to Have Cable (Eurobell as it was back them) Which turned into NTL,and so on.. They only had Basic Phone+TV No Broadband... They decided to cancel their Cable Subscription and "Move back to BT" While keeping their same phone number. This involved a Cable Engineer coming out and disconnecting cable, and a BT Engineer running a new cable from their pole up to my parents house.
Well now times have changed and Progress has been made and I have finally convinced my parents to get Broadband, and what a nightmare it has been doing this! We rang up Talktalk as they have a LLU Product which is enabled on my parents exchange only to be told that they could not get the LLU Product as Talktalk could not "See" the line via BT. They suggested that Ntl/Virgin might still own the number, even though it is on a BT Cable and Pole, and BT Might rent the number off them(??) To this end they said its not possible to switch to LLU until this mess is sorted out.
Everytime my Parents or I contact BT, BT Just try and sell their product, which my parents are not interested in.
ARRGHH!! How do I sort this mess out, have Virgin made one of their monumental cock-ups and not released the line properly back to BT? If so How do I make it possible so my parents can get TalkTalk LLU on an exchange which they are connected to currently?
