T&C query

[link to this post]

A friend of mine signed up for TT when they first started BB.
He was connected to a 2Meg circuit which was all that BT had then (pre-ADSLmax)
Since he signed up, ADSLmax is available and his exchange (Hawarden) has been LLU'ed.
However TT will not put him on anything likely faster than his current product.

I too am on the same exchange and live further away from it. The likely cable route also favours my friend. I have a stable 5.5M from A&A, so likely he would get better if he was on it.

However, TT seem reluctant to up his connection unless he changes his package, which means paying more, which he does not want to do since he has heard that others in his position have been upgraded foc.

What is his best means of achieving an increase.

(I don't think it's due to lack of ports, since another friend, same exchange, signed up with TT a few weeks ago and were connected within a couple weeks or so. Their speed is greater than 2Meg, which considering where they live is pretty good. [A BT friend of mine says that in that area, some cannot get ADSL at all])

Cheers

TT only supply free BB up to 8Megs on unbundled lines along with a choice from 4 of its voice products, the cheapest being a total of 16.39 with line rental. The TT free BB will be rate adaptive meaning up to 8megs and they can also use fixed rate services where that is necessary.

Sometimes they cannot unbundle their customers because there are no spare ports on the MSAN.

They only upgrade customers free of charge to ADSL Max when they are paying 15 pm surcharge for BB when TT LLU is not available.

It is likely that your friend is getting a fixed rate BT Wholesale BB product from TT. I very much doubt whether what he is getting will be cheaper than TT LLU as described above taking line rental and voice services into account. If I was him I would upgrade.
