What do all these messages mean

For months I have been getting random disconnects (echo failed or just MPOA link down .. also getting breaks on make or receive telephone calls ..

Talktalk have sent me a new Huawai router .. still drops on phone calls .. not seen an echo failure yet but have had an MPOA link down in the middle of a transaction with a supplier !"£"^£*£%£$£$%£^£& grrr..

the new modem continually shows messages in the log as follows ..

tried to find out if this is the norm or what it all means but nobody ever answers that query on Talktalk

My connection is the slowest its ever been, as low as 2.0meg sync ..

don't worry about it its just your firewall blocking communications that breaks the firewall rules

Firewall: Filter no port UDP packet! - that would mean there was not a valid port assigned to the communication (computer use ports to talk to each other)

the best support would come from the manufacture of the router

To get the speed problem sorted register at the TT forum the OCE's should be able to help, they only work office hours Monday - Friday but there are a few members who are very clued up and may be able to give you some suggestions over the weekend. -

It's not necessarily nothing to worry about though. The messages could simply mean an external computer is trying to connect to yours without your consent, hence the firewall on the router blocks the connection (a good thing, obviously) before it can get anywhere near any computers connected to the router. Or if these messages happen when you are using a particular application, that application may need those ports to be opened on the firewall, either manually via router's web interface or UPnP (if this is enabled/supported/working).

If the router was the same type as your old one, make sure you use the new PSU too. Dodgy PSUs can sometimes cause problems like this. Presumably you've tried difference microfilters too?

Oh, right ..

makes reading the log a bit difficult though .. I think I lost connection about 3 hours ago, but unless there's some way of viewing the whole log, rather than the last 10 minutes or so, I can't tell why

depending on the make of the router, you might be able to view more if you download the log or set it up so that it emails you the logs

I forgot to add that the internet will every half hour go down (not just the pc or laptop the whole thing). I have changed the micofilter but the problem persists, please help!

You have an internal wiring/equipment fault, a line fault or an exchange fault.
Plug the router directly into the hidden test socket of the NTE5 (If available) using only the short lead that came with it and a known good filter. Do not use telephone extension cable!!!

Which points to a line/exchange/internal cabling etc fault. You need to get that sorted first.
