Line connection charge...

Hi.

Was up untill recently living with my now ex g/f. Anyways we had Talk Talk broadband at her place which worked great. Now i want to move into my own flat which has a line connected but is dead. Now Talk Talk say they want £70 to connect the line, which for someone like me who is unemployed and on benefits alot to pay out for. Is there a way around this to get the connection cheaper...?

BT currently have an offer, until 30 June, for line connection for £30 providing you take an 18-month contract.

Are you connected to a TT LLU enabled exchange at your new address?

You coulld try Post Office, i believe they do a cheap connection and a 30 day contract. You could take advantage of their cheap connection charge, then move the whole line over to TalkTalk after 30days.

I 'think' the charge is £30

Talk Talk is one of the cheapest if not the cheapest, aside from the BT offer with a long lock-in.

Think the PO, IDNET and AAISP (alternatives) are all circa £117 - £129.

Early cancellation of the line if you went with BT is circa £7.50 per month for the remaining months of the contract.

TalkTalk is also MPF which could potentially be far worse than a long "lock-in".

As your in receipt of a benefits you may qualify for this BT Basic social tariff, certainly cheaper line rental, and from what it says they will let you pay the install charge over time (installments)
Then if some one like o2 has their LLU kit installed in your local exchange and you had a pay and go o2 mobile it would cost you £7.50 per month for the bb, or even less by signing up through a cash back site ,
