Replace talk talk supplied router

Hi guys, i'm an O2 forum person myself, feel like i'm straying out of my patch coming here!

Anyway need some good simple advice for a colleague who has asked for some help.

She has talk talk broadband and her router has packed up, i've no idea what talk talk supply and she doesn't know what make or model it is. I have an old sky broadband netgear dg934 that sometime ago i flashed so that it became a standard dg834. Can i let her have that for the time being? Will it work and what settings would i need to input for it to work

Always look at the relevant ISP's Help pages for "Router settings".

You could also advise your colleague to sign up with the TalkTalk User Forum and request a replacement router.
She will find the people there very helpful - unlike their phone support.

Would you be happy to pay £5 a month more to have the service in the UK or do you think they have the call centres abroad because they like to go on holiday there?

The operative word is "service" or lack of it!

Interestingly, I have only had to call customer service twice. Once for myself and once for my parents. When I called then on behalf of my parents I was very annoyed at the end of the call because the person I spoke to was incompetent (not a language barrier problem, they were just useless).

When I called them on my own behalf I was very pleased with the call and got the information I needed (basically there was an outage somewhere. Don't even think it was a TalkTalk outage!).

I don't ususally have a problem with talking to people with Indian (or other languages for that matter) accents since in the course of my job I speak to 60-80 people a day with a wide range of accents. You get used to them... You also get used to speaking in a way that they can understand you.

The only time it is a real problem is when the person you are speaking to does not have the English vocabulary to understand - things like screen, buttons, cables etc etc..
