Ordered a 2nd phone line and did it through TalkTalk this was 9 days ago but have not been given any date for router install.
The reason I worry is that I have had a large amount of thefts of post and parcels in the past few weeks so worried someone has taken it.

If it is anything like a couple of friends of mine who went from Sky to Talk Talk, never.
They can't even get her name right as she just got married and still send letters with her maiden name on and she told them and told them .

I mean if i had a £10 note for every post in this forum from someone saying "my uncles, friends, wife's, aunties, boyfriends, sons mate has been having problems with TT" i would be rich.

it certainly not me since I don't use TT. i know lots of people with Talk Talk, they fall for the rubbish that TT sales people put out. a lot of them have problems with the service, I only met 2 people who don't.
As for this friend of mine, she and her hubby went from Sky to Talk Talk, I said it was a bad move at the time.
but she have more problems with her hubby health at the moment to bother about TT.

If you think about who the target market for TT is, and who posts on here, you'll see the reason why there are so many posts like that. Your implication (that anyone posting here about an issue relating to their friend/relation is a liar) is unnecessary and baseless.
You were clear you were talking about the OPs home router though

Seen too many people have too many problems, anyway I try to give my money to smaller companies if I can as long as they offer a decent service for a fair price. notice the word fair, not cheap.

For what it's worth, I recently switched from Virgin to TT, and also arranged a similar move for my elderly aunt and uncle a couple of weeks later - some of us do have relatives
In each case the router arrived no more than 3-4 days before the changeover date, but they were there on time.
My experience so far has been fine. I have heard that telephone technical support is poor, with first and second line TSRs not authorised to do very much, but I have only called them about an admin point and they were OK.
I recommend using the TT broadband support forum for broadband functionality issues. My speed on a long line is critical - it settled at 1200kbps which was lower than before the switch. One post on the support forum got a friendly, sensible response, andthe noise target changed from 12 to 6dB. The speed up to about 1800-1900kbps which is as high as I have ever had here.
Happy so far, and the aunt and uncle have had no problems
