RIght
The BT man come today he put the modem in and set my router up and put the code in my laptop for the wifi. He tested it and the net was working he did a test while he was putting the modem in and said i would get about 79 down 19 up.
So he left i did a speed test on this site and the results are 4.47 down 5.41.
So i called talktalk and was told that i have to wait 24 hours before it gos live

Sadly, you won't get 79 down and 19 up as I believe that the max profiles on 80/20 FTTC are 77.43 and 20. I have attainable rates greater than 80/20 and I have profiles of 77.43 and 20 and I get actual speeds of 73.5 and 17.4. My own experience of FTTC was that the moment the engineer left the connection was up and running - particularly, if the engineer connected his test set as I think they are required to do. Best of luck with TalkTalk.

It's live if you have a working connection. Be happy with 47Mb/s.

100% Linux and, previously, Unix.

I had my fibre fitted Yesterday with Talk Talk. I received a phone call to tell me adsl was being turned off and fibre connection to cabinet . The Open reach guy then asked me where I wanted the Router He then ripped out the old socket and wiring back to the pole fitted all new fixed socket and bt router to new position . He then ran a lot of checks using the Hand held diagnostic then made phone call to exchange got all good results connected tt router made sure I had a good connection and took off after checking I was happy. First check spiked at 42meg then settled at 38 meg

Today it spiked at 92meg then settled back to around 70 meg so thanks to the guy who said good luck with Talk Talk because that is all I have experienced with them in the two and a half years with them. As for the poor service from open reach on the install the thread opener mentioned get in touch with Openreach and let them know what happened. They don't want shoddy work carried out in their name as it reflects badly on the very good engineers they have working for them
