[link to this post]

I still have about a year to go on my contract but not not getting the speed they say only at night when help is down it just drops off after 18.00/19.00 every night.
I have tried email, phone, chat and forum and after a shed loads of test still not find any problems with my line.

So now looking into leaving if I can as not getting the speed.
Thanks for any help.

Run a live connection test (use the link below) if it finds a problem on your line you will get the message below -

Scroll down to blue link to run test - https://www.talktalk.co.uk/help/servicestatus/

Hello,

We have run a test and found a problem between the exchange and your home.

We have booked an Openreach engineer to fix the fault within the next 2-3 working days.

There is no charge to you for this and you do not need to be at home for the engineer to fix the fault.

We'll update you via email and SMS as soon as we have it resolved.

Your TalkTalk team

Well, I don't think it is TalkTalk that's the fault. Because I get 80/20 at all times.
https://librespeed.org/results/?id=14d9avw
https://i.speedof.me/210225025408-514

These are the speed tests I did just now.
Try a speed test via https://librespeed.org or https://speedof.me they always give me 80/20 Mbps consistently.

Make sure your router stats is connected to 80/20 and that the connection isn't dropping out. If the System Uptime is resetting then the fault may be in the router and not TalkTalk.

If the connection is dropping out due to noise margin issues then the fault is in your line or at the cabinet. DLM will try to reduce the speeds to maintain a stable connection. Don't turn off your router on and off as that will trigger DLM to reduce your speeds. Leave it always on and any speed reductions should correct themselves and eventually your connection should stabilize.

Also router stats is a more important indicator of speed and best used with Cat 5/6/7 Ethernet cables. If people rely on wireless speed tests they won't know the max potential speed. The router may show 80/20 but the wifi can give them inconsistent speeds and then they blame the ISP.

Hi
Thanks for the links I did try them with WIFI and cable and got simiar results only a few meg between them..
I was getting around 68 around 17.00 no problem but by 21.00 and not touching anything or streming it dropped to 30 meg over WIFI and cable (https://librespeed.org/results/?id=1ez65i4)

So there is something not right Talktalk want me to use there site for speed test as when logged on there is one that show speed to modem and speed to device I am a bloke and do as I am told smilesmile

So what you are saying is that day time you are getting 68Mbps but night time from 9pm that speed drops to 30Mbps?

Have you observed noise margins in your router stats to see if they are higher during the day and when night time approaches whether you get reduced speeds that coincides with SNR drops?

That's worth checking. If your noise margins are not stable then speed can fluctuate. Also is your connection stable or is that disconnecting? Make sure you leave your router always on.

I see your upload speed hasn't been affected. Upload SNR is usually more stable than download. But you are also getting very high jitters and even pings! 210 jitter and 25.5 ms ping isn't normal. I get less than 0.30ms jitter and ping is always under 6ms with libre.

Something tells me there is noise issue during the night. See when you get 68Mbps during the day whether your Ping and Jitter is lower.
