TalkTalk and PSTN Switch Off

[link to this post]

My company has a number of TT lines on different exchanges and we have not so far heard anything from TT regarding PSTN switch-off. Does anyone know what their plan is? On TT's availability checker they are not offering new broadband to the addresses concerned except where full fibre is available; ie not offering to ADSL or FTTC locations.

No replies on this query, so I guess nobody else has heard anything either?

I'm guessing you mean TalkTalk Business, this is a separate company from TalkTalk residential and they have their own 'policy' regarding phone lines.
The last time I spoke with TTB, which must have been well over a year ago, they where still developing plans. AFAIK they do have a 'digital voice', but my experience of the management of 'phone lines' would indicate they are in a complete mess, my line was on their system as being 'digital voice' (or whatever they call it) but in reality was analogue, this caused problems when I migrated away from them last year.

TalkTalk Business have their own kit in the exchanges and provide voice service over that. Their big selling point to partners is they can gradually increase the revenue on analogue lines as nobody else wants to offer them.

My recommendation would be that you come up with a migration strategy rather than relying on paying TTB increasing amounts to retain analogue phone lines.

And there will have to be an MPF switch off at some point, for the exchange closure programme at least, so they're just kicking the can down the road.

I imagine it will be necessary to pay *someone* increasing amounts to retain analogue phone lines, followed by extortionate amounts at some point.
