Although BT have announced that they will retain the TalkTalk branding, might they merge it with Plusnet in the future?

Anything is possible. But note that TalkTalk offers a voice service, while PlusNet does not. Furthermore, Talktalk have their own MSANs providing the dial tone over LLU copper, instead of connecting to the exchange, so Talktalk have been kicking the PSTN switch-off down the road.

Ultimately I'd expect that BT would want to avoid running two separate networks and multiple customer portals, and will want to migrate Talktalk customers onto their own network. At that point they'll discover how many legacy brands and services Talktalk has: it was grown via multiple levels of acquisition including Tiscali, WorldOnline, Nildram, Freedom2surf, Pipex and dozens of others.

Remains to be seen exactly what they’ll do with the wholesale arm, PXC - that’s the ‘spiky’ one from a regulatory and a lot of commercial sensitivity perspective.

Still could be a valuable asset in its own right to sell off once disentangled from the mother ship.

Clive has his work cut out.

Lord help Fleur Telecommunications who have had transferred to them by TalkTalk one of our circuits which has PSTN voice and alarms to a rural exchange with no TT presence, plus ADSL from another provider. No wonder TT wanted rid of it. I await the first communication re sorting that one out.

If anyone can migrate all of this in a sensible way it will be Hon. Col. Selley; I hope his board colleagues will let OR have the resources needed.
