I am totally confused by TalkTalk verbal information.
I have subscribed to TT for a year or more, including their landline. I receive at 2,2Mbps because the exchange (Painswick) is, they say, not unbundled. For this I have, therefore, paid an erxtra

1. It is possible that your friend is not on the same exchange as you are, even though he lives very close; or

2. Maybe TT have just unbundled Painswick? They might get round to dealing with you shortly. Keep asking to be upgraded.

At least you're not paying

Appreciate comment, but believe me he IS on same small exchange.
TT insist it is not unbundled, but surely this cannot be the case if he gets 7.3?

The only other possibility is that your friend is getting ADSL Max on a BT hosted TT service. You can find out by seeing if he can connect a voice call by dialling the 1280 BT override prefix before a number. If it connects he is on a BT hosted service; if it doesn't he is on TT LLU.

And the only way you can find out which exchange you are on, is to do a search through Sam Knows. Put both your numbers is the phone checker and see what it comes up with.
