Free laptop offer.

[link to this post]

I have pre-registered for the Free laptop with Carphone Warehouse and AOL, in the T&C's (see link below) it says if not in aunbundled area connection will be through a different supplier (not AOL).
Ive been told the supplier will be Talk Talk.
My problem with this is i use Iplayer quite a bit and as it uses Kontiki (P2P) i am worried the FUP make my connection virtually unusable even though i am not sharing anything illegally.
Each programme comes in at approx 350mb so i guess i will be classed as a heavy user.
Does anyone here use Iplayer or have any comments?

TT & AOL share the same network (mainly backhaul) on LLU. TT uses Huawei MSANs which carry combined voice and data over the line, while AOL LLU uses Fujitsu DSLAMs which are broadband only devices and require another voice supplier.

Where they indicate another supplier will be used, I imagine that is where AOL has not unbundled the exchange. Obviously if TT have unbundled but AOL have not, they are capable of using the TT equipment.

Otherwise it will be a BTW connection but again that will be subject to any AOL or TT unbundling in the future.

I can't help you with p2p throttling.

The Laptop is one which is Dell branded. Dell in my opinion are a good brand when it comes to PC's, ive very rarely heard anything bad about them. My previous laptop was from them and i had no problems with it. The specs are:

Dell Inspiron 1520
Wirless
Intel Celron 540
Vista Home
1Gb RAM
80GB Hard drive
DVD/CD Writer

The laptop is displayed as a new model on the dell website at http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1520?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1 and therfore will be covered by a full warentee by them.

Personally i have no issues with them, i would prefer dell over PC world (which is offered by another ISP) any day.
