Line stats problem

[link to this post]

I am fairly new to broadband having been with TT for two months. Apart from a few teething problems I am fairly happy. The problem I have concerns obtaining line stats. When I go to the list of modems I cannot find the one that TT sent to me. It is a Smart AXMT882. Am I missing some thing here or is it known by another name. Any help would be appreciated.

Browse to http://192.168.1.1

This will open the web configuration manager.
Your line stats can be found on the Summary page.

It's the "Huawei" SmartAX MT882 I have one also but it's staying in it's box because I already have a decent ADSL+2 router. Getting connected to talktalk broadband on the 4th of next month...great.

many thanks for your info. I tried 192.168.1.1 but it keeps asking me for my user name and password. I have tried my 'think broadband' ones also my talktalk ones but no joy. which ones are they after. As an aside I have been quite pleased with TT including thier technical support line. It is good value for money.

Many thanks for the info,it worked fine.I have got some figures but at the moment they don't mean much to me. Maybe you can help. Bandwidth down- 3137;SNR Margin down 17.5; Attenuation down-44.0. Are these reasonable bearing in mind that I am about 2 kms from the exchange as the crow flies. My average download speed is 3.4 mbs. My next door neighbour tells me he is getting between 5 and 6 mbs. He is also with TT. Strange.

Ask TT 2nd line to reduce your downstream target noise margin to 6dB. Your speed will increase. If you get many disconnections, go back to 9 or 12dB which will reduce your speed.

You may be sufferinf from poor internal wiring. Try plugging the modem straight into the NTE5 test socket. You seem to have quite a high SNR margin at 17.5 Db, try speaking to TalkTalk and ask them to lower it to 6 or 9db. Alternatively feel free to PM me your line number and ill do this for you.
