Re: Problem with SKY & TT

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

The engineer brought in another box out of the van (new and unopened) and this was showing up with the same problems.

I will try the skybox at another house tomorrow and see how I get on with that. sometimes there is some background noise and since the llu move I have noticed that my netgear router (dg834g v3) takes alot longer to sync. dont know if thats all bundled in as one problem.

no, i didnt find out what the number is (yet) as the people at sky dont really want to be giving this info out... not even to their own engineer.

Sky requires a BT line, or Wholesale line, therefore, if you are on LLU, you are directly connected all in one go to their equipment at the exchange, and not wholesale equipment, think of wholesale as being universal. The problem with LLU services, especially bundled services, is that you can only use their services for products. Lots of incompatabilities apply. Another example, if you use a CPS (carrier pre select), they would often route your calls overseas, then back into the UK to the destination you called, the problem this gives is that is will show as number with-held or International. They do this because cheaper carriers are normally found overseas. Unfortunatly, though, for billing reasons suppliers of your services over the telephony systems require Caller Line Identification, as i mentioned in a previous post. Crackphone Warehouse use a CPS supplier, an LLU supplier also, their trading name is Opal.

Try going into the engineer menu and see if you check which telephone number is called, this can be done by pressing SERVICES, 4, 0, 1, SELECT on your remote. See if you can spot in here anywhere the number dialled

TTBOY. LLU services simply do not work for providers which require wholesale products. SKY clearly states BT Linerental or equivilant required. LLU is not equivalent. Stop trying to make the man jump through hoops.

LLU does work with Sky. I know of customers (me for one) who have a sky tv service & LLU with no issues at all. Simply saying that anyone who has an LLU service is unable to use Sky TV is obviously not true.

Opal do not route any calls made to a destination within the uk via any international carriers on CPS.

Most local calls are carried by BT, the rest route over opals switches.

They only use international carriers for international calls.

Another thing is opal can only show the CLI if the number is presented to them. If for whatever reason the number is withheld then opal have no way of showing this on CPS, so if there is a fault where the CLI is not being presented even if the end user does not have their number withheld, there is nothing opal can do to resolve the problem.

no number in here... engineer on the day of installation contacted sky to see if they would give him the number... no chance.

TT prefixes that I have found on the net so far... 1360 on a sky internet forum 1280 from sky themselves. neither of them work.

Have you been LLU'd by TalkTalk? if you have 1280 will not work as that is BT's IDA override.

don't know what 1360 one is, try 1840 as that is opals IDA override and see if that works.

You need to look at the small print of SKY, you need a BT or Equivelent line for compatability. LLU is not equivilent.
