Talk Talk software issue with Windows Mail

[link to this post]

A friend of mine uses Talk Talk and has an issue with the Talk Talk software in his machine and Windows Mail (running Vista).

When he opens Windows Mail for the first time (after booting) a warning is displayed with the following text...

"Failed on loading skin name "TalkTalk". The file "shell.css" is required in your "sscommon/skins/TalkTalk/css/" directory Blah Blah Blah.

Please can anybody suggest a fix (other than binning Talk Talk )?

Many thanks for any replies

Bin the TalkTalk software. You dont need it. Set up your connection without it.
It looks like the files that customise Outlook express dont work on Windows Mail.

Uninstall the TT s/w and have a look here:

Tried to uninstall it Rob - that was the first thing I did.

However Windows Vista complains that Administrative access priviledges are required etc etc even though there is only the one account on the PC and that IS administrative.

Any clues?

It displayed a window with the old dreaded red cross in it informing us that it was simply not possible without the correct privileges

right click whatever you are trying to uninstall and go to run as administrator. Its the windows vista UAC system which kicks in and wont let you run it as admin unless you specify.

We are trying to uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.

For this reason it's not possible to select any specific options

It is possible to disable the UAC feature, but im not really sure how to do this. Vista isnt a strong point of mine.

A quick google returned this : http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm

1. Open Control Panel.

2. Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account".

3. Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account.

4. Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.

5. Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link.

6. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.

7. You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready. In order to re-enable UAC just select the above checkbox and reboot.
