no MAC codes for LLU subscribers?

[link to this post]

I wonder if anyone would care to confirm, I have tried to move one of my clients from talk talk llu and they have since said that they don't offer llu mac codes as the customers account has left bt's system (which is what I thought llu was )

I have seen loads of posts with people saying how difficult it is to get anyone to accept the llu mac code.

can someone clarify?
do they issue llu mac codes even for lines that have been taken over by tallktalk?
and who takes them?

Hi

It is not possible to get an LLU mac from TalkTalk if your circuit has been unbundled. LLU customers dont have the ability to be selective with regard to the services they are getting from TalkTalk, insofar as they must have broadband AND voice; it is not possible to have broadband without voice, and vice versa.

Bear it mind that this applies to LLU customers only.

Technically, it is of course possible to have one LLU provider give voice services, and another (LLU or IPStream) provider give broadband.

In summary, if your client wishes to transfer to a different ISP, they will have to endure the rigmarole of transferring their line back to BT Retail for line rental and voice services. Once that is complete (typically takes 2-3 weeks), the client will then be able to place an order with their chosen IPStream or LLU provider.

You need to make a distinction between SMPF (shared) and FMPF(full)

Talk Talk is rare in using fully unbundled and the way to moving to another provider involves getting your phone line back to a BT line or equivalent and as such the procedure does not need a MAC.

For shared services e.g. Be, UK Online, Sky then a MAC is available and should be provided.

Another note the line can be taken back to WLR providers such as The Post Office or Madasafish who place new line orders.

Process for leaving full unbundled e.g. Talk Talk is

Simultaneous Provide

The process has existed for some time, but not all providers have adopted it yet. It involves combining an order for a telephone service and broadband service with potentially two different providers and then marrying the two orders together using a LOR number (LORN) so that they get connected up at the same time.

Generally people start the process by contacting their chosen broadband provider and ask to do a simultaneous provider order, the LORN is supplied which can then be taken to the voice service provider and used to order the telephone line. It should be possible to order the telephone service from any provider who uses a Wholesale Line Rental product, in addition to the obvious BT Retail products.

Some providers who have not adopted the latest ordering systems may an older system which is being phased out which involves ordering a PSTN migration and once this is working order broadband again from new.

Its a serious con, The only reason they move people onto the service is that it makes it harder to switch, the very reason that the mac code system was puit in place.

I am just going to have to activate my other line for bb. I am not going to give these [censored] one more penny than I need to.

Please people don't use carphone warehouse or talk talk or geeksquad. Tell your american friends to do the same and stop them expanding there too.
This company really is evil

I have my voice service from TalkTalk and my broadband service from Entanet. TalkTalk phone me almost every week, trying to get me to take their broadband service.

No way am i going to let that happen, if I let them do that then I think there will be no going back in the future, not unless I switch back to BT first.

It amuses me when they try to persuade me that their usage limits are just as good as Entanet's.
