nope, last i heard it would be opt in and once you choose the option you want it would be stored on TalkTalks systems, not on your local PC.

I heard that is how TT is going to do it, but not sure about other ISPs. There was talk that BT was going to make it opt-out, hopefully they will change their mind or have it changed for them.

Still after what I have seen today it may not worry me, Bt is going to roll out this ADSL2+ to all its customers, where the exchange have been converted, ours is going to be converted next month.
I don't want to go onto ADSL2+ as I have heard how bad it is on lon lines, so I may have to look for another ISP, but not TT, never ever TT.

Changing ISP isn't going to help, since if they use BT as their broadband supplier you'll still be on the new ADSL2+ hardware at the exchange, and most (all?) ISPs who provide broadband via LLU are ADSL2+ anyway. ADSL2+ isn't necessarily bad on long lines, but even if it does pose a problem on your line, most routers can be configured to connect using the old ADSL G.dmt mode (ADSL2 might be another option) instead of via ADSL2+.

Not all ISps will use the faster speed and even if they do, hopefully they will give a choice, I know Entanet will.

Nothing on the BT hub, you never know they may do a update for it.

I am dreadin them doing anything to that exchange, the last time something was done was when TT put their stuff in and I lost internet for a day.
