Seriously though, you are correct - This problem seems to be widespread and still ongoing.

Procrastination rules @ TT....
TT and their OCE tend to ask you to do lots of checks and changes; it's a bit like when you have mobile phone problem and the 'distant techie' goes thro' all the rhubarb re checking Network selection, etc and ends up asking you to switch the phone off and remove the SIM card....
There are FAR TOO many recent postings on the TT Forums re outages after receiving a phone call.
Different speed checking sites report the ISP as either AOL Broadband, CarPhone Warehouse Broadband, when it used to be consistently shown as Opal Telecom.... even a TT OCE was confused, but there again, perhaps that's normal / BAU.
Signal to Noise ratio is a good place to start me thinks.
So, look out TT, I'm off to Virgin....... unless someone knows better.
Cheers
Mike

Customer care my backside, you phone TT support and you get some script reading moron who probably still cant tie their shoelaces on their own. Jack, if TT "cared" they would bring their phone support up to the mark, but they still employ the same deadbeats reading off the same scripts and still hanging up on customers.

You assume everyone that calls phone support gets no help whatsoever you have no proof that is the case as i have no proof there are thousands of happy customers who have been helped by phone support, you cannot expect to have 24/7 UK based phone support for £6.99 a month if you want that be prepared to pay £25 per month plus as i did with my last ISP.

If customers have problems with PS there is always the TT forum. wink

Dont come in all high and mighty about the members forum by the way, whatcha gonna do if your Talk Talk connection hits the skids..........phone support !!

I would either go to family members house a friends house or the the library, not that difficult really is it?

Pah..............worst ISP in the UK in a league of mediocrity all of their own.

All this for £6.99 and i haven't ever used phone support or the forum for anything other than a profile tweak to get a bit more out of my connection, i wonder how many of the 4.2 million customers are in the same boat as me, happy days. wink

Great value for money - http://speed.io/pics/3239/6696/speed.io.png wink

I have to agree that Talk Talk Suck. I have been waiting since JANUARY 2010 and I am still not connected to Broadband.

The OCE's and phone support have now said it should all be sorted by June 14 but should I believe this.

It's all good to say only a fraction of customers have problems and complain on the fourm but the ones that are having major problems don't seem to get anywhere.

Talk Talk need to stop taking on new customers until they sort out the ones they have. I've had 2 letters saying sorry your leaving and one to say come back to us it only takes 1 call.

All I want is a cheep broadband connection to do a bit of emailing and online shopping nothing special. The only reason I'm holding out is because the offer I got for joining was 12 months free broadband. Talk Talk would probabaly love me to just go somewhere else so they don't have to offer me the deal promised.

As for phone support I think Talk Talk should sack the lot of them especialy their managers who are always to busy when you call and promise to call you back and don't.

19 days until my problems should be sorted or so they say. However this is just 6 months waiting for Talk Talk to find me in there system there is nothing to say once they finally unstick my order that I won't have more problems with speed and line drop outs.

What would the people on here who defend Talk Talk recommend after nearly 6 months of waiting??

That's 4 or 5 months! You have the patience of a saint!
If and when you do get connected, I wonder what "free" will actually mean? If you were told it was "free" by a doorstep salesman, I suspect that you'll soon be learning a new meaning for that word.

Hi All,
Having read this and other threads about TT, I must say that they support doesn't seem to know what they are doing. The reason I'm able to state this is because my son has just gone to TT from another ISP, had letter telling him he would be live 24/06/10, well that day came and the other BB was turned off but he had not had his welcome pack or router, so on the phone he goes and was told that yes his line was now live with TT BB, so he asked about his router only to be told to contact another department about that, he did and was told he would have to signup to TT etc and then he be sent his pack. He told them he was already signed up and was live from 2day, umm no your not he was told, any way he got it sorted that he was now with TT and that his router would be with him the next day, end of next day no router back on phone, to be told he will have to wait 10/14 days for it to be delivered!!!!!!!!!. He was then told that if he had a spare router he could use that until his came, ok he said np what are the settings for this please, to be told to go on line and then to the TT members forum and follow it from there, he asked how he could do that as he had no service without a router but you have a spare 1 so use that, but i not got the settings, i just told you to get them off our site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Well he came down to me and printed them off and went back and set up the router and was back on line but at a very very low speed, back on the phone and asked to have his profile reset please, only to be told that as he was not using the TT router his profile was going to stay as it was untill his TT 1 arrived. He left it there after asking to speak to some1 else only to be told no.
Now to me who has no axe to grind 1 way or the other even tho my it's my son I would say that their Q O S is not very good and thier support leaves a lot to be desired

I would love to pay a tenner a month for my broadband, but it is not going to happen here, no way will I go with TT.

But i done the next best thing, gone for cable and wireless though a reseller, it may cost £20 a month, but it is great and true unlimited, no shaping.

Best thing i done for ages, should have done it before.

TT customer service is awful, a mate is having problems with his telephone line, asked Talk Talk to do a test, their reply was we already done one and found the problem is your equipment and then put the phone down on him.

He is only with TT for phone, not broadband.

i know full well that there is nothing wrong with his equipment, router ok, phone ok, filters are ok. At least he had sense and going back to BT for his phone line.
