This is disgraceful and even more so when you know that you're almost certainly being lied to re the cause of the problem.

It's a recurring theme here too and that forum is very well hidden. Also, locally, the problem seems to be rife.
I'm pretty sure that this and the problem with faulty provisions are linked.

Hello all,
We are seeing a large number of members raising issues about "Dropping Authentication", we have raised this issue to networks to be investigated and will update you when we know more. If you are affected by this please create your own thread in the Stability section of the forum.

We also have a discussion thread on the forum related to this issue:
Broadband Connection & Stability > Loss Of Authentication

At last..... Customers have been raising this and related issues for months and have had all sorts of ridiculous excuses thrown at them.
This also goes a long way to confirm my long held contention that it's an exchange configuration issue.

It's highly unlikely to be exchange related. It's a network problem either configuration or capacity related. TT recently cited load balancing servers not working to specification as the cause of DNS issues. In the past I can remember the same issue of load balancing software affecting the email servers. As TT are in the process of assimilating Tiscali's network, I suspect it will be related to this as well. Opal will fix the network and not tell anyone what they've done in true ISP fashion. There is no excuse for a communications company failing to keep its customers informed. But that is what they all do. As long as all their customers keep paying, they will keep on doing the same.

ps I hope that Jack's connection is still OK. I am sure he will tell us if it's not.

And finally......!!!

Hello all,

After many attempts of raising the topic of authentication issues to networks and being told no issues. It would appear we did in fact have authentication issues....

The good news is that this issue has been resolved and so you shouldn't see any further issues however if you are still seeing authentication issue please let me know.

Regards
Stephen

Guess what? 14:33 just had another PPP dropout, guess it's not cured.
