Hi Brunel smile

Wanting to talk to You!
But unable to sign in to the TT Forum coz I'm with.. AOL .. Not Talk Talk
Been reading this forum too! For about 5 weeks.
Can't believe I've never spotted you and this thread before.

Yep! ... AOL | Owned By... Talk Tallk | Owned By... Opal

And Guess What?

I've also got the Authentication problem frown

Started 21st April ... When I got a new contract with AOL - Upto 24mbps

Internet Light - Turns Red
ADSL Light - Always Green
PPP Goes Down
Loss of Authentication
LCP Down - & - LCP Up ... Like a flamin Yo Yo!

Never Lose Sync!

Nope! .. TT Haven't Fixed It!
Coz I went off again about an hour ago.

Please keep up the good work you're doing on the TT forum ... Don't Give Up!

Thanks!

I am trying, posting everywhere I can.

Supposed to have been fixed today, but I am still having the PPP session dropped.

usually lasts 40 mins, but can vary.

In reply to a post by ETEE:
... It's highly unlikely to be exchange related. It's a network problem either configuration or capacity related....

I think we're seeing more than one issue here. Some of it is due to configuration errors at MSAN level but (And I hadn't thought about this), this wouldn't affect customers who hadn't been reconfigured or who weren't newly configured.

Hi Brunel smile

My internet disconnections are totally random.
One day I can have 0 .. Another day 2 to 5 .. Another day 20 to 40 .. Nightmare! frown

I'm using a Netgear DGND3300 modem/router.
Lucky for me - Most of the time it will pick the connection back up all on it's own.
I always end up with... New IP address - New DNS Numbers - Same Sync Speed!
If I don't reboot out of pure frustration...
My DGND3300 will hold on for about 9 days before I'm actually forced to reboot.
However...
During this time my noise margin will drop a little lower each day.
Reboot starts me off with a new Sync Speed and at the AOL default noise margin of 12db
Day by day my noise margin drops a little lower - & - Router starts to take longer to recover from PPP loss.
By day 9 my DOWN Noise Margin is down to 4db ( UP Noise Margin remains at something like 12db to 13db )
That's when I my routers internet light... Turns Red - & - Stays Red ... Until I Reboot!

Attenuation
Down = 34.5
Up = 17.1 ( This has changed in the last few weeks / Used to be 16.9 )

Sync
Down = 8500 - to - 10968
Up = 1020

Real Speed .. All Over The Place frown

This Is How It Goes...
Mon, 2010-06-14 17:16:02 - LCP down.
Mon, 2010-06-14 17:16:10 - Initialize LCP.
Mon, 2010-06-14 17:17:11 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Mon, 2010-06-14 17:18:11 - Initialize LCP.
Mon, 2010-06-14 17:18:11 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Mon, 2010-06-14 17:19:11 - Initialize LCP.
Mon, 2010-06-14 17:19:11 - LCP is allowed to come up.
...Eventually Ending With - Chap Authentication Successful

Thanks!

Hi Deadbeat smile

Didn't have any disconnection problems while I was still on my Old AOL contract.
AOL BB Upto 8mbps - & - BT Line Rental

But the very second I was on my New AOL contract.
AOL BB Upto 24mbps - & - AOL Line Rental
Total Nightmare frown

When I started my new aol contract...
Noticed straight away that I had been put on different DNS servers
Yep! .. Talk Talk DNS Servers!

Even had to go through the flamin TT DNS Problem frown
Page Can Not Be Found
Server Can Not Be Found

Thanks!

Hi smile

Just got disconnected again frown
Approx 3 minutes for router to pick internet back up.

Must have had more IP addresses since the 21st April...
Than I've had in the whole 4 years of having broadband.

I'm not getting any problems with my connection , that's not to say there is not a issue but it might be at exchange level .

I can understand people not wanting to give there address but giving there exchange details when posting with this problem might give a picture of where and what .
Also those that are not getting issue should post , as it might be area or POP problem . if we get two people on the same exchange not having the same issue we will have some new ideas on what the problem is or is not .

But as another poster has already said Opal are unlikely to tell us when they fix it let alone what they have fixed

I'm in East Sussex , on the Uckfield exchange ( NDUCK ) and have no problems on any of the TalkTalk lines i look after .

The issue is long standing and nationwide. It's seemingly worsening but that might simply be because more are publicly reporting it.
It was only affecting those from the recently aquired companies but as can be seen from this thread, that seems to be no longer the case. The OP is not alone in this.
