Re: Q.O.S. The original thread title.

Hi smile

My Exchange - WNDEE = Connahs Quay

Don't think the problem is with individual exchanges.
I think the problem is more likely to be either...
1) The equipment that TT are using in the exchanges.
2) Problems with ADSL2+
3) Something they are rolling out across the country.
( Continuing... Even though they can clearly see that it's causing big problems ) frown

At one time I thought the problem might be their - DLM - ( Dynamic Line Management )
But when I saw a TT OCE telling someone a list of dates when DLM had changed their profile.
Realised... I've Not Got DLM - Yet!
If I Had... I'd have certainly seen my Target Noise Margin change from AOL default 12db at some point.
Also!
Even people on the TT Forum that have DLM Disabled by a TT OCE.
Still continue to report the Internet disconnections after DLM has been turned OFF.

The authentication problem doesn't seem to care about quality of the line.
Attenuation - Closeness to the Exchange - etc.
So!
At least that's one thing... We are all equal in this Problem!

Hi smile

Look what I've just found here : http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=... : Post #35

I changed my line rental from BT to AOL on May 28 and since then it has been a nightare! Dropping out all the time etc. It did improve slightly when we tweeked the settings at the weekend and put the router on Channel 11 but it seems to be bad again and the other computer in the house drops out even more than mine does.

I was going to change back to BT and when I enquired online how long it would take they gave me a telephone number to ring and guess what - they couldn't answer my call as they had broadband issues!!!!!! What is happening? Anyone else still having serious AOL broadband issues as well?

Bet The OP - mhairipm ... Changed to the same New AOL Contract as I'm on.
&
Bet they've got the same authentication problem too frown

Have you been stung by this problem too Deadbeat, given it's a nationwide issue? Personally, I've yet to experience any PPP link drop problems of this kind - my router holds a connection for weeks without dropping the PPP link or sync. Maybe woweebert and I are just lucky laugh.

Locally, eleven people I know across 4 exchanges have problems. Nine of these have transferred from AOL, Tiscali etc but two are long term TT customers. I believe that all are LLU'd and on TT's "new network".
There are many complaints of the same and other issues from across the UK.

Hi Brunel smile

Have they give you back you're 6db profile yet?

Don't blame you wanting it back!
You may as well coz the authentication problem doesn't seem to care about profiles or sync speeds.
I'm just as likely to get the disconnections if I synced low - As I am if I synced high.
Wish I could have a 6db profile.
Haven't got an AOL Forum!
We used to have a members massage board... But they shut it down frown

What do you make of this?
Here: http://tinyurl.com/362cdgg
Yep! ... Talk Talk Mail ... ON ... AOL Help
Think it must be about this: http://info.aol.co.uk/talktalk-webmail/

Yesterday was quite bad... Approx 10 to 15 Disconnections.
But when I've just checked my Router Log... PPP had even more fun through the night frown

LCP Down | LCP UP ... All Night Long!

Note!
The night drops are just as random as the day.
Some nights the router shows that there were NO disconnections,
Other nights... 1 or 2
Then there will be the odd night like last night... Terrible!

Thanks!

Hi smile

Just Seen This...

Since 12:05 Wed, Jun 16th Scarborough 01723
Customers may experience problems connecting to the internet. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. TalkTalk engineers investigating. Unknown Status [Authentication Issues]

Why is Scarborough so special? frown
They should be investigating the whole of the UK .. Not Just Scarborough!

And To Top It All Off...
Now noticed that it's getting harder and harder for me to get a high sync when I reboot my router.
Today's Sync... Down = 8850 | Up = 1020
Highest sync so far on ADSL2+ ( Up To 24mbps ) Was... Down = 10968 | Up = 1020
That was about 2 weeks ago!
Lasted 9 Days smile
I did have disconnections.... But I never ever lost my Sync! ( Never Do Lose Sync! )
Then one evening....
PPP went down - & - Just wouldn't come back.
Forced To Reboot Router! ... Lost My Great Sync!
And never have been able to get such a good sync since frown

Thanks!

Hi Brunel smile

Keep @ Um!
They have been washing over this problem for about 6 weeks now ( Probably Much Longer! ).
Finally... Someone ( You! ) has managed to convince ( Make Them Accept ) that it's TT's problem.
Don't Give Up Now!
Coz if they manage to wash over it again... God Help Us! frown
