The user's language is disgraceful but what's far worse is the forum administration. It's disgraceful that no swear filter is active where such a resource can be accessed by children but it's absolutely unbelievable that such comments are still there after almost five hours!
What's all this we're constantly being told about it being a good forum and a valuable resource?

Hi smile

Yep! - Did see the very Angry posts on the TT forum.

Although I don't agree with using that kind of language - & - Never would use it myself!
Got To Admit...
The OP was only saying what many others wish they could.

I've had BB for about 4 years now. ( AOL - From Day One )
First... BB 1mbps £14.99
Then... BB 2mbps £14.99
Then... BB 8mbps £14.99
Never had any real serious problems in all that time.
April 21st 2010
Came... BB 24mbps £14.99 + Line Rental ( Free UK Calls ) £11.25 = Total £26.24
And Entered Broadband Nightmare frown

Coz of yesterdays low Sync - & - Still had disconnections all day long!
This morning I've rebooted my router - Again!
Sync...
Down = 11293 | Up = 1020 laugh
Thank God For That!
Was beginning to think I'd never see a good sync ever again.

Note!
My son is at home from school with bad Hay fever.
So by the time I got to check my router after the Reboot...
Noise Margin... Down = 9.0db | Up = 12.8 db
Has DLM finally got me and lowered my profile from 12db to 9db.
OR...
Due to having such a High Sync... Has my noise margin just droped quicker than normal?

We Shall See!

Hi smile

Unbelievable!
After managing to get such a fantastic Sync Speed this morning laugh Really thought I was about to lose it frown

Story!
When my new aol contract started on - 21st April 2010.
It wasn't just the disconnections that I had to suffer.
For the first few weeks I also suffered terrible with the DNS problem that TT/AOL are having.
So in the end I switched to OpenDNS.
But when TT said the DNS problem was Fixed... After just a few days I switched back to TT/AOL DNS.
To Be Fair!
After that up until today... Although I've seen a few - Page Not Found
There hasn't been that many. Certainly nothing to stop me browsing the web.
It's just been the constant disconnections that has driven me round the bend.
Until... Today! blush
As you know I rebooted this morning and got a great sync of 11293
So Far! - Haven't had a single disconnection all day.
But as the day has gone by.. More & More - Page Not Found
In the end I couldn't get anywhere at all frown
Thought... NO! - Gonna Have To Reboot!
But then I thought... I'll just try putting OpenDNS back in - & - See what happens.
Router took in OpenDNS
gave me a new IP address
Kept my Sync! laugh
Everything seems fine... So I'm Not Rebooting!

Note!
This last week...
I'd noticed that every time I had a PPP disconnection.
I was being bounced from one certain set of DNS servers to another.
And then straight back to a particular set of DNS servers.
The strange DNS servers only showed up when TT said the were fixing the DNS problem.
They always started 62. and ended .1 & .2

I've heard 3 times now about PPP Problems being caused by Load Balancing.
And Talk Talk says about DNS problem....
Hello all,

As you may have noticed we have been experiencing some issues with our DNS over the past few weeks. Below is the latest update from networks on this issue:

UPDATE 27/05 @16:30
The monitoring and diagnostics we have been undertaking has identified an issue with load balancing hardware, this is affecting some DNS queries at peak times. Over the next week extensive work is taking place to resolve the issues identified. This involves network reconfiguration and extra hardware installation to address these issues. In the meantime we will continue to monitor the situation and take tactical actions to rebalance the load across the network in order to minimise impact to our customers at peak times.

Well!
Looks like Talk Talk still havn't fixed the DNS problem frown
( Don't know how to do an angry smiley... So another sad one will have to do )

The reason this has not been dealt with quickly is the thread has been bumped regularly by new answers being added, for those not in the know the OCE's work on the oldest thread first so obviously they will not see the thread until no answers are added.

I assume it is close to impossible to filter out every swear word it is easy to add gaps e.c.t. to avoid the filter, the OCE's do not allow swearing of any type and a mild swear word got me the response below, the next time i swear i get a ban.

I have reported the offending post.

....I have reported the offending post.....

There are no excuses for a forum that is accessible by children. The offensive language is still there some thirty odd hours after it was posted.
I have admin'd and mod'd much larger forums than the TTM forum and such contributions wouldn't have existed for more than a couple of minutes if at all.... Even if posted in the early AM.
There is no excuse whatsoever!

Hi smile

Rid of the DNS problem by going back to OpenDNS.
But the PPP problem ( Disconnections ) started again last night at 10pm.
Turned the laptop on this morning and noticed two things...
1) There had been more LCP Down & LCP Up throughout the night.
2) Router was in need of a reboot after adding OpenDNS yesterday.
( As my laptop had got the wrong IP address )
My router had obviously become a little confused blush

Rebooted Router
Fantastic Sync - Again! laugh
Down = 11235 | Up = 1020
Really think DLM might have picked me up.
Coz - Like I Noticed Yesterday...
Noise Margin
Down = 9.1db | Up = 12.4db
( Down NM always used to be 12db just after a reboot... Until Yesterday! )

Brunel
Don't know who I feel more frustrated for... Me - or - You!
" TT Router Are The Problem " ... Nope!
I'm not using a TT Router .. OR .. The same D-Link router AOL dish out.
I'm using the Netgear DGND3300
And there are many TT member using their own shop bought routers too.
I've seen a few TT members are using the same router as me.

Nothing to do with routers.

I have tried with five 2Wire 2700B, all display same symptoms.

TT are now doing some tests with my connection, so I have been informed.

Your friend in this post is I suspect getting close to the truth although I'm not sure that the firmware in itself if at all is to blame.
Along with this, don't forget that TT are no strangers to using forced idle disconnects. Do your dropouts follow the x hours/x minutes/fixed seconds pattern?

I note that the foul language still remains. frown
