I do think Talk Talk/AOL might me struggling with not having enough IP address to go around.
Especially... Peak Times - & - Busy BB Days!

If this was the case wouldn't we all suffer at certain times of the day?

I don't know why people keep ranting about the DNS servers - just forget about them. TT's DNS servers have never been reliable in the 2 years that I've been a TalkTalk customer. Just use Google's Public DNS or OpenDNS and be done with it.

On the subject of disconnections, I've never experienced such a thing with TalkTalk, but did with my previous ISP, Virgin Media (ADSL). IIRC, I didn't get disconnected, but the connection got so slow (due to lack of BT central capacity) it was common practice (and still is!) for customers to have to manually disconnect and reconnect to get a connection with a faster speed. Trouble was that in the very bad times, it often took 1-2 hours to regain PPP connection. As in the TalkTalk case, sync was maintained throughout.

Hi Brunel smile

the best thing about PPOA is that you need 'no software' on your computer to use the connection, unlike PPOE

From Here : http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/showthread.php...

Not True!
AOL might use PPPoE coz it works with their software. ( Don't Know! )
But the AOL software isn't required to connect to the internet using PPPoE.

So Frustrating! .. Not being able to sign in to the TT forum frown

I'm With... AOL
I'm Not Using... AOL Software ( It's not even installed on my computers )
I'm Using... PPPoE
And I'm Pretty Certain... I'm On The Talk Talk Network

" System Restore Points Might Solve The Problem " .. blush .. Not!

Poor You! .. Bet you could Scream.

Chin Up - & - Keep Fighting wink

In reply to a post by Jack_Hackett:
.... Did you deliberately choose to ignore the part of my post where i said adding posts to the thread bumps it to the BACK of the queue and as they only work office hours could easily miss the thread entirely if it is bumped regularly....

I didn't ignore anything but you did. I said that there is no excuse whatsoever for it being and remaining there.
It remained for not minutes or hours, but days.... Even though at least several complaints were made to mods and admin.

I reported it using the "report" button (for want of a better word) and as you say it was not removed, I sent Emma a PM when I arrived home from work yesterday and within minutes it was removed and she sent me a PM thanking me for the report.

I will send her another PM asking if the report system needs attention.

OK, that's one from each viewpoint so balance is achieved.

Now drop it, both of you.

Hi smile

Over 24 Hours Now - & - No Disconnections laugh

Don't Worry! .. I'm not getting to excited!
The disconnections are totally random.
And this wouldn't be the first time I've managed to get through 24 hours without one.
Only to be followed by a day of constant disconnections.
Maybe when it's been a week or month ( Disconnection Free ) I'll start to have true hope.

My speeds are still rubbish frown
Don't seem to ever get even close to my sync speed.
Sync... Down = 11235 | Up = 1020
Speed Test... Down = 7.85 | Up = 0.53 | Ping = 43
Surly I should be seeing something more like 9.50 mbps with a sync of 11235 kbps ?

Speed Tests Act Strange!
Jumps up and down blush
It can hit 8.Something ... Then drop back down ... Up ... Down ... End on 7.85

Hi smile

Went almost 48 hours without a disconnection ... Almost!

LCP went down at 4.47 am this morning frown
Obviously... Didn't know at the time!
But I just did a speed test and noticed that my IP had changed.
Checked Router Log... LCP Down Sun 4.47
Did NOT Lose Sync!

Re: My Speeds
See this thread here : http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/showthread.php...
Well the OP has got a very similar attenuation as me.
But that's Not the only reason I'm interested in the OPs story.
The problem the OP has with their Sync Speed v Real Speed... Identical To Mine!
( Check out the OPs TT speed test Results )
I'm hoping that by following the OPs story... Might be able to find out what is wrong frown

My Router Stats

Attenuation.. Down 34.5 | Up = 17.2
Noise Margin.. Down 7.6db | Up 13.1db ( Going down again - or - DLM trying to give me a 6db profile ? )
Sync.. Down = 11235 | Up = 1020

Just Done Speed Test... Down = 8.14 mbps | Up = 0.77 mbps | Ping = 43

Thanks!
